Guidance for finding exotic, rare or specific stones through stone yards and importers, including lead times and what to ask.
Sometimes the stone you picture is not on a local yard rack. It might be a rare color, a specific pattern you saw in a magazine or an exotic with dramatic movement. Special orders are possible, but they come with longer lead times and more questions. Because we are not a supplier, we have no inventory to sell, so our advice is about getting you what you want, not what we have.
We help you describe the stone, search for matching names and similar alternatives, and talk to stone yards and importers on your behalf when appropriate. We explain how to evaluate samples versus full slabs, how to confirm the exact slab before it ships and what to expect on timing. We also help you decide whether a special order is worth the wait or whether a similar stone will give you the look sooner. We also keep an honest eye on timing, because the best-looking stone is not worth a stalled kitchen, and we will say so if an alternative would serve you better.
Photos, color names and pattern descriptions help find the stone or close alternatives.
A sample is a hint, not the whole picture. We recommend viewing the actual slab or detailed photos before committing.
Special orders can take longer, so we plan the project schedule around the arrival.
Sometimes a stone already on a local rack gives nearly the same look sooner. We help you compare.
