Removal of laminate, tile, solid surface, quartz and stone counters, with each material handled in the way that protects your cabinets.
Different countertops come out in different ways. Laminate is glued to a particleboard base and can be pried or cut. Tile is set in mortar over a backer board, which makes demolition dusty and sharp. Quartz and old granite are heavy and brittle and must be supported as they are cut free. Solid surface is glued and sometimes screwed. Each material needs its own approach, and the cabinet below pays the price if the wrong one is used. In Nashville, where many kitchens still have laminate or tile from the nineties, tear-out is a common first step.
We assess what is on your cabinets, protect floors and walls and use the right tools and sequence. Tile and backer are removed carefully to avoid damaging the cabinet top. Heavy stone is scored, supported and carried out in sections. The base is then cleaned of adhesive, mortar and fasteners and checked for level. All debris is hauled away so the job site is clean. We also check the walls and the backsplash area as the top comes out, because older installations often hide damage that is easier to correct while everything is open.
